Committee Update 25 March-2022

Dear All,

Thank you to those who attended the 70th AGM of the club last night; your support was much appreciated.

The following committee members were elected unopposed: Marilyn Copland (President), Tony Quinliven (Vice-President), Mark Paget (Treasurer), John Skipper, Lizzie Thompson, Bev Johnson, Deborah Matthews and Hedley Bamford (Committee members).

Two presentations were also made at the meeting. The first was to Nan Caldwell for the distinction of having been a member of the club for 50 years. We were also delighted to present Charles Lapthorne with the Betty Trigwell Cup for the highest scores attained in 2021 for those in the 90 plus years old bracket. Congratulations for these two great achievements.

The recent easing of the COVID regulations announced on Wednesday means that with the increase to 200 people allowed at indoor gatherings we will no longer need to have a booking system. As recommended we will continue with the mask-wearing requirement. The government does recognise that "some businesses, events or venues may still choose to use vaccine passes" and will maintain the infrastructure for them. In light of the current number of cases in Canterbury the committee has decided to continue with the vaccine pass requirement up until and including 25 April. We will review the decision after that date.

In the meantime please continue to observe all safety requirements and stay home if you feel unwell. Hopefully the situation will begin to improve soon and we will be able to welcome greater numbers back to the club. Thank you for your forbearance everyone.

Take care,
Marilyn Copland,
President.
