Weekly Update 22-July-2022
Mask Wearing at the club:
The committee encourage members to wear masks while at the club in keeping with Government guidelines and with the increased number of cases in the community.
Government guidelines:
As a general rule, you should wear a face mask whenever you are in a public indoor setting.
When you wear a face mask, it is important you use it safely. It should go over your nose, mouth and chin. It should be well-fitting so there are no gaps above, below or on the sides. Do not re-use a face mask once it has become damp, damaged or dirty.
Club Trophies: Can members who have club trophies at home please return these to the club.
Improver bridge lessons aimed at Novice and Junior players:
From Auckland Bridge Club
Good afternoon
This is to let you know that Auckland Bridge Club is trialing Improvers’ RealBridge sessions that are suitable for novice and junior players. We are hoping that you can bring the next session, to be held this Friday 22nd July at 7.00pm, to the attention of your junior players.
We ran our first Improvers’ RealBridge session on 1st July and had 6 tables. Around half of those were players from other clubs, and a third were newer players getting more comfortable using RealBridge without the stress of playing open players. They enjoyed having a more relaxed pace with fewer boards, playing against others of a similar level.
If we can get more tables, AKBC will consider running these every 2 weeks (with gaps for the junior interclub nights), which will be great for developing the confidence of more junior players playing online. They just need to turn up at around 6.30-6.45pm on 22nd July by logging onto the RealBridge page of the AKBC website - https://www.akbc.co.nz/realbridge
- and scrolling down to the Friday Improvers session. It is best if they already have a partner but if not, we will try to match up players of similar levels. We ask that partners also be at junior level or below to keep it fair for everyone.
Players will need a Helloclub account, and currently the cost per session is $5 ($1 for youth players). Here’s how to set up a HelloClub account, which is free. https://www.akbc.co.nz/visitors
Thank you.
Kind regards
Auckland Bridge Club
