Canterbury Interclub Teams: Congratulations to those who have been selected to represent the Christchurch Bridge Club for the Canterbury Interclub teams. Good Luck for this weekend.
 
2021 Grade Promotions are now out. Congratulations to those who have been promoted. See foyer noticeboard for promotion list.

Important Reminder: Anyone who has been in the upper North Island in the last 14 days should stay away from the club for 14 days.

Club Trophies: Please bring the club trophies won last year back to the club to be engraved for this year. 

Session Convenor Elections: Voting for session convenors will take place the week of Monday 22nd November.

Club Match programme restarts: on the week of Monday 25th October – but note the Programme changes below.

Match Programme changes:
Monday Afternoon:
Rose Bowl – reduced to the 10 sessions already played – the best 7 scores to count – at least two scores with different partners
Sir Joseph Ward Ladder – still being played – reduced to 10 sessions – the best 8 scores to count – at least 7 must be played with the same partner
Monday Evening:
Oxford Ladder/John Hay Ladder to replace the last event – commences 15th November
Tuesday Evening:
Events between 17 Aug and 26 Oct cancelled
Wednesday Evening:
Charitable Trusts Cup – the last 6 sessions to replace the Teams & Fourth match Point Ladder
Third Match point Ladder and the Teams events to be switched, i.e. the Third MP Ladder commences this week
Friday:
Open Pairs – reduced to the 8 sessions played
Diana Isaac Retirement Village Pairs – replaced the last 6 sessions on the calendar

Update 29-October:
With the 2 cases of Covid in the community, the Club’s expectations, if you have been in one of these locations they are advised to “Self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms for 14 days after you were exposed at this location of interest. If symptoms develop, get a test and stay at home until you get a negative test result AND until 24 hours after symptoms resolve.” 

The 13 locations of interest identified and released by the Ministry of Health so far are spread across many Christchurch suburbs - Bishopdale (where the cases live) Sockburn, Hornby, Bryndwr, Riccarton, Islington, and Linwood.

Further Update 29-Oct:
 A club member has been identified as an indirect contact of a recently diagnosed COVID case in Christchurch. As a precaution we have cancelled bridge this morning and the club will remain closed for bridge sessions until further notice. The member concerned has followed all protocols, is fully vaccinated and has not attended bridge in the last week.

In the meantime please follow the advice of the Director of Health, get tested if you feel unwell and vaccinate if you have not already done so.

Tournament Results: Ashburton: Mid-Canterbury Pairs 1st - Jessie Pelenato / Leon Meier 3rd - Graeme Tuffnell / Jan Alabaster Green section: 1st - Tina Sims / Bridget O’Brien 2nd - Margaret Fraser / Richard Williams Anniversary Pairs: This Saturday, 10am. This is a Club member only handicapped tournament. Please pay the entry fee $25 by this Thursday to allow the payments to be checked off. You can pay cash or use the EFTPOS at the Club (ask Thea) or pay on-line. Road Closures: Due to the Super Rugby round being held at the new stadium all this weekend, road closures will be in place. Roads will be closed on parts of Barbadoes Street, Madras Street between Hereford Street and St Asaph Street and streets close by around the stadium. Access to the Club will still be open but maybe allow more time to get there. Beginner Bridge Classes: The next class starts Monday 4th May at 7.30pm. Tutor: David Taylor. Please let your friends, family & work colleagues know. Daytime sessions: With a lot of new apartments in the area, there is an increase of children around. Can we ask when leaving the car park particularly for the daytime sessions that you keep the speed down when going down Nova Place. Canterbury Congress: 16/17 May: Competitions for all levels. See noticeboard or the flyer on the Home page of this website for further information. An experienced open pair from Auckland are looking for team-mates. Contact the office for further information.

Easter Bridge: Bridge as usual over the Easter Break including the Monday night session are open to all players. The Friday Rubber Bridge session for the 3rd April is postponed due to Easter. AGM: The Club’s AGM is being held tonight, Thursday 26th March at 6.30pm. Voting: As there are nine nominations for the six positions on the committee a vote will be held starting one week prior to the AGM. The last chance to vote is tonight before the AGM. Voting will be open at the club from 5.30pm this evening.
